Wind Family is a network of independent kite schools, instructors, brands, volunteers and educational partners based in Watamu. We are united by one thing: providing free kitesurfing scholarships for local youth who would otherwise never touch this sport.
We are not a commercial venture. Volunteers facilitate collaboration between kite schools, children’s homes, instructors and the broader Watamu community. The magic is in words, goodwill, and meaningful connections.
Watamu is already known for wind and water. It can also become known for something rarer: a place where the chance to kitesurf is open to the young people who grow up beside the wind, not only those who can afford to travel for it.
